Today’s devotion is sponsored by BetterHelp — connect with a licensed therapist from anywhere, anytime.

Good Morning!

Good Morning! Today is Thursday, September 4th. Begin this beautiful morning by speaking God’s truth over yourself. Even when no one else cheers you on, remember to encourage yourself deeply in the Lord.

Today’s Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Teach us to be our own inner cheerleaders, grounding ourselves in Your promises and truth. When applause from the world is silent, help us find strength and affirmation solely in Your Word and presence. Lift our spirits and give us courage to proclaim Your truth boldly over ourselves today.

In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Amen.

In Galatians 6:2, we are reminded to “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” That’s why BetterHelp makes it simple to match with a licensed therapist, message anytime, and get the convenience of therapy that’s 100% online.

Daily Inspiration

“David strengthened himself in the Lord.” — 1 Samuel 30:6

In seasons when the world may overlook us, when the applause we hope for is absent, our hearts can still find relentless strength. It flows from knowing how deeply we are loved, chosen, and valued by God Himself. Scripture teaches us the importance of self-encouragement—speaking the truths, promises, and power-filled words of our Lord directly to our souls, just as David did during his most challenging moments.

Question of the day

How can I spiritually encourage myself when I’m feeling forgotten or alone?

The Bible offers clear instruction and a powerful example in King David. When faced with rejection, threats, and desolation, David didn’t succumb to despair. Instead, he “strengthened himself in the Lord his God” (1 Samuel 30:6). Practically, this means speaking God’s promises out loud, meditating on Scripture, reminding our souls of God’s faithfulness, and rejecting the temptation of self-pity. By doing this, we anchor ourselves deeply in God’s unchanging truths, overcoming discouragement.

Moment of Reflection

Take a quiet moment and ask yourself today:
“What Truth from God can I boldly preach to my own heart? What scripture can I speak aloud today to lift my spirit?”

Thought for the day

When you take the time to regularly feed your soul a sermon rich in grace, faith, and biblical truth, you create a powerful shield against despair and hopelessness. Self-encouragement doesn’t mean self-reliance; rather, it means choosing to actively remember and proclaim who our God is, even when circumstances might tempt us otherwise. In those moments of spiritual clarity, you become your own encourager, equipped and empowered by God’s Word—guarding your heart against negativity, discouragement, and self-pity. Speaking Scripture out loud acts as a personal rallying cry, turning your attention from your struggle toward the steadfast character and unfailing love of our magnificent Savior.

Closing Blessing

May God’s eternal truth be your comfort and strength today. May your heart be encouraged by His unfailing promises, and may your spirit soar in hope. May you find renewed joy in preaching His word to your own soul, walking confidently and joyfully in His unending grace.

Be blessed today!
