Today’s Prayer
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, asking for the grace to complete what we have begun. Forgive us for the times we have started with enthusiasm but faltered along the way. Strengthen our resolve, renew our commitment, and help us to honor You through faithful completion. Give us the perseverance to finish the work You have placed in our hands.
In Jesus’ name, we pray.

“Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it.” — 2 Corinthians 8:11
The Apostle Paul wrote these words to the Corinthian church, encouraging them to complete a generous gift they had eagerly begun. Their intentions were beautiful, but intentions without action remain unfulfilled promises.
How often do we begin with fire in our hearts, only to let that flame flicker and fade? God honors not just our starting points but our finish lines. The blessing often waits at the end of the road, not at the beginning. Think of Moses leading Israel to the promised land, or Nehemiah rebuilding the wall despite opposition. Completion required perseverance, faith, and obedience. What God-given project sits unfinished in your life today? A ministry calling? A reconciliation? A step of faith? The blessing is released upon completion.

Why does God care about us finishing what we start?
God cares about completion because it reflects His own nature—He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion (Philippians 1:6). When we finish what we start, we demonstrate faithfulness, stewardship, and trust in His provision. In Luke 14:28-30, Jesus speaks of counting the cost before building, warning that an unfinished tower invites ridicule. Our follow-through is a testimony to the world and a demonstration of our trust that God will provide everything needed to accomplish His purposes through us.

Completion unlocks the blessing. This truth echoes throughout Scripture. Consider the Israelites marching around Jericho—the walls didn’t fall on the first lap, or the sixth. It was on the seventh day, after the seventh time around, that God moved. Had they stopped at lap six, they would have missed the miracle.
Our spiritual lives are filled with unfinished projects: prayers we stopped praying, relationships we stopped pursuing, disciplines we abandoned. Each incomplete endeavor represents a blessing left unclaimed. God is not asking for perfection—He’s asking for faithfulness to the finish.
Today, choose one thing. Just one. Perhaps it’s sending that message, completing that devotional study, or finally taking that step of obedience. Don’t let another day pass with blessings sitting on the table. Finish what you start, and watch God honor your faithfulness.
