Today’s Prayer
Heavenly Father, we come before You acknowledging that wilderness seasons are hard, yet we trust Your purpose in them. Meet us in the barren places of our lives today. When we feel lost, be our compass. When we feel empty, be our provision. Teach us the lessons that only dependence on You can bring. Humble our hearts and strengthen our faith as You lead us through every desert toward Your promised land.
In Jesus’ name, we pray.

“Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you.” — Deuteronomy 8:2
The Israelites spent forty years wandering in the wilderness, and it was not a mistake or a detour—it was God’s intentional design. In that barren landscape, stripped of Egypt’s comforts and securities, they learned to depend entirely on God for bread, water, direction, and protection.
Your wilderness season serves the same sacred purpose. God uses these times to humble us, revealing our desperate need for Him. He tests us—not to destroy us, but to strengthen our faith and prove His faithfulness. In comfort, we often forget God; in the desert, we cling to Him. The wilderness strips away self-reliance and replaces it with holy dependence. Trust that God is leading you, even now, and that this season has eternal purpose.
Question of the day
Why does God allow seasons of spiritual dryness in my life?
Spiritual dryness can feel like abandonment, but Scripture reveals it as purposeful refining. God uses these seasons to deepen our roots, test our faith, and draw us into greater intimacy with Him. In Hosea 2:14, God says, “I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her.” The wilderness becomes a place of divine encounter.
James 1:2-4 reminds us to “count it all joy” when we face trials because testing produces steadfastness and maturity. Dry seasons reveal what we truly depend on and invite us to seek God with renewed hunger. They are not evidence of His absence but often preparation for greater blessing and deeper faith ahead.

Think back to a season of lack or difficulty in your life. What did you learn about God’s character during that time that you might never have discovered in abundance? Perhaps it was His provision, His presence, or His peace. Let that memory remind you today: intimacy with God forged in hardship becomes an unshakeable foundation for everything that follows.
Thought for the day
Wilderness deepens dependence—this is a truth that runs counter to our natural desires. We long for green pastures, still waters, and seasons of ease. Yet some of our most profound spiritual growth happens when resources are scarce and answers seem distant.
Consider Jesus Himself. Before launching His public ministry, He was led by the Spirit into the wilderness for forty days. There, in hunger and solitude, He was tempted and tested. And there, He emerged victorious, filled with power, ready to fulfill His calling. The wilderness was His preparation, not His punishment.
What is your wilderness teaching you that comfort never could? Perhaps it is patience as you wait on God’s timing. Perhaps it is surrender as you release control. Perhaps it is trust as you watch Him provide manna one day at a time. Learn from the desert. Let it do its sacred work. God is shaping something beautiful in you that can only be formed in the fire of dependence.
