Good Morning!

Good morning, beloved family in Christ! This Wednesday, October 7th, we turn our hearts toward one of the most sacred callings God gives to His people—the nurturing of young souls. As autumn leaves fall and children settle into new routines, may we remember that every moment with a child is an opportunity to plant eternal seeds. Let the crisp morning air remind you that fresh mercies await as you pour into the next generation today.

Today’s Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before You acknowledging that parenting is both a profound privilege and a weighty responsibility. Grant wisdom to every mother, father, grandparent, and caregiver who shapes young hearts. Help them speak Your truth with patience, model Your love with consistency, and trust Your Spirit to cultivate what they plant. When they feel inadequate, remind them that Your grace is sufficient. Strengthen families to be greenhouses of faith where children flourish and grow toward You.

In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Amen.

Daily Inspiration

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” — Proverbs 22:6

This beloved proverb reminds us that parenting is not merely about managing behavior—it is the longest discipleship program we will ever undertake. The Hebrew word for “start” carries the imagery of dedication, of consecrating something for a sacred purpose. When we train children, we are setting them apart for God’s purposes.

Notice the promise embedded within: seeds planted in childhood take root deeply. The lessons spoken at bedtime, the prayers whispered over scraped knees, the Scripture memorized around the dinner table—these are not fleeting moments. They become the spiritual bedrock upon which adult faith is built. Many believers can trace their love for God back to a parent or grandparent who faithfully shepherded them. What you invest in a child today echoes into eternity.

Question of the day

How can I effectively teach my children about God when I still feel like I’m learning myself?

This is a question many Christian parents wrestle with, and Scripture offers beautiful reassurance. In Deuteronomy 6:6-7, God instructs parents: “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road.” Notice that God doesn’t require perfection—He asks for authenticity. The commandments must first be on your heart before you impress them on your children.

Children don’t need parents who have all the answers; they need parents who point them to the One who does. When you openly seek God alongside your children—reading Scripture together, praying through difficulties, admitting when you don’t know something—you model what a lifetime of faith looks like. Your journey becomes their roadmap.

Moment of Reflection

Think back to your own childhood. What spiritual truth did someone plant in your heart that still shapes your faith today? Perhaps it was a bedtime prayer, a Sunday school lesson, or a grandparent’s gentle correction. Consider how God used imperfect people to build your foundation. Now ask yourself: What seeds are you planting in the children around you? Even if you’re not a parent, you may be the teacher, neighbor, or mentor a child desperately needs.

Thought for the day

Parenting shapes eternities. These three words should stop every caregiver in their tracks. In our culture, we measure success in grades, achievements, and accolades. But God’s economy is different. The most significant work you may ever do isn’t accomplished in a boardroom or on a platform—it happens in the ordinary moments of daily life with a child.

When you patiently explain forgiveness after a sibling argument, you are teaching the gospel. When you demonstrate integrity even when no one is watching, you are preaching without words. When you prioritize family worship over screen time, you are declaring that God matters most. These small, consistent acts of intentional discipleship accumulate over years, forming the character and faith of the adults our children will become.

Remember, Jesus Himself said, “Let the little children come to me” (Matthew 19:14). He valued them. He blessed them. He saw their eternal worth. May we do the same. Disciple a child today—not because it’s easy, but because it’s eternally significant.

Closing Blessing

May the Lord bless your hands as they guide, your lips as they teach, and your heart as it loves the children entrusted to your care. May He grant you patience when you’re weary, wisdom when you’re uncertain, and joy in the sacred calling of shaping souls. Go forth today knowing that your faithful labor in the Lord is never in vain.

Amen.
