Good Morning!
Good morning, beloved family in Christ! On this blessed Sunday, October 11th, may your heart be stirred with compassion as we gather to worship. Today, we are reminded that God measures the greatness of His people not by their wealth or status, but by how they treat those who have the least among them. Let this truth guide your steps and shape your generosity as you move through this Lord’s Day.

Today’s Prayer
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, asking that You open our eyes to see the poor and needy around us. Keep them near to our hearts and within reach of our hands. Forgive us when we have looked away or walked past those in need. Fill us with Your compassion and give us the courage to act generously, knowing that in serving them, we serve You.
In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Amen.
Daily Inspiration
“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done.” — Proverbs 19:17
What a remarkable promise from our Lord! When we extend kindness to those in poverty, we are not simply giving to another person—we are making a deposit in the treasury of heaven. God Himself receives our generosity as a loan and promises to repay it.
This verse transforms how we view giving. It is not charity that diminishes us; it is an investment that multiplies eternally. The Creator of the universe considers Himself indebted to those who care for His beloved poor. Every meal shared, every dollar given, every moment of time invested in someone who has nothing becomes a sacred transaction between you and the Almighty.
Question of the day
Why does God place such emphasis on caring for the poor throughout Scripture?
God’s heart for the poor runs throughout the entire Bible because poverty reveals our dependence on Him and our need for one another. In Deuteronomy 15:11, God declares, “There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelites who are poor and needy.” Jesus echoed this in Matthew 26:11 and consistently demonstrated compassion for the marginalized. God emphasizes care for the poor because it reflects His own character—He defends the fatherless and widow, and He loves the foreigner (Deuteronomy 10:18). When we serve the poor, we become His hands and feet on earth.

Moment of Reflection
Think back to a time when you invested generously in someone who had nothing—perhaps unexpectedly—and witnessed how God brought about a return you never anticipated. Maybe it was a relationship restored, a life transformed, or a blessing that circled back to you in a surprising way. Let this memory strengthen your faith to give again today, trusting that kindness to the poor truly lends to God.
Thought for the day
Remembering the poor must be deliberate. In our busy lives, surrounded by comfort and routine, it is easy to forget those who struggle for their next meal or shelter. The poor do not naturally cross our paths when we travel in circles of convenience. This is why Scripture repeatedly commands us to remember them—because without intentionality, we will forget.
Today, ask yourself: What resources can I redirect toward someone in poverty? Perhaps it is money you planned to spend on something unnecessary. Perhaps it is time you could volunteer at a shelter or food bank. Perhaps it is simply the willingness to see—truly see—the homeless person you pass on the street.
God measures kingdoms, churches, and individual hearts by how we treat the least among us. When we give to someone in need today, we participate in the economy of heaven, where generosity is never lost but always multiplied. Kindness to the poor lends to God—and He never defaults on His promises.
Closing Blessing
May the Lord enlarge your heart with compassion and fill your hands with generosity this week. May you see the face of Christ in every person in need, and may your kindness become a fragrant offering before the throne of God. Go in peace, remembering the poor deliberately, and be blessed as you bless others.
