Your Daily Devotion for November 9th

Good Morning!

Good morning, beloved! This beautiful Sunday, November 9th, brings us a gentle reminder that our busiest seasons often crowd out our most sacred moments. When our calendars overflow with commitments, we may inadvertently leave no room for the miraculous. Today, let’s intentionally create space for God to move in unexpected ways.

Today’s Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before You recognizing how our packed schedules can squeeze out precious time with You. Lord, order our priorities according to Your perfect will. Help us discern what truly matters and grant us courage to say no to the good so we can say yes to the best. Create in us a hunger for holy margin where Your presence can dwell richly.

In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Amen.

Daily Inspiration

Jesus Himself modeled the importance of stepping away from the demands of ministry. In Mark 6:31, He tenderly invited His disciples: “Come with Me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Even the Son of God recognized that constant activity without rest leads to spiritual depletion.

This invitation wasn’t about laziness or avoiding responsibility—it was about creating intentional space for restoration and divine encounter. When we’re constantly rushing from one commitment to the next, we miss the still, small voice of God. Miracles often happen in the margins, in those unplanned moments when we’re available enough to notice God’s movement around us.

Question of the day

How can I practically create more margin in my life without feeling guilty about saying no to good opportunities?

Scripture teaches us that even Jesus regularly withdrew from crowds to pray (Luke 5:16). Creating margin isn’t selfish—it’s stewardship of the life God has given you. Start by examining your commitments through the lens of Ecclesiastes 3:1, which reminds us there’s a season for everything. Ask yourself: Is this the right season for this commitment? Does this align with God’s current calling on my life? Remember, saying no to one thing means saying yes to something else—perhaps to rest, family time, or simply being still before God.

Moment of Reflection

What would happen if you viewed unscheduled time not as wasted moments but as landing strips for miracles? Consider this: many of Jesus’ most powerful encounters happened during interruptions—the woman at the well, blind Bartimaeus, the children brought for blessing. These divine appointments occurred because Jesus maintained margin for the unexpected. Today, ask yourself: What can I cancel or postpone this week to create holy space for God to surprise me?

Thought for the day

We live in a culture that equates busyness with importance, yet Scripture repeatedly calls us to a different rhythm. The Hebrew word “selah” appears throughout the Psalms, inviting us to pause and reflect. This ancient practice reminds us that spiritual growth happens not in the rushing but in the resting. When we schedule less, we often experience more—more peace, more clarity, more awareness of God’s presence.

Consider how many of life’s most precious moments are unplanned: unexpected conversations that change perspectives, spontaneous acts of kindness that reveal God’s love, quiet moments of clarity that redirect our paths. These treasures require margin to materialize. By intentionally creating space in our schedules, we’re not being unproductive; we’re positioning ourselves for divine appointments that no amount of planning could orchestrate.

Closing Blessing

May God grant you the wisdom to discern between the urgent and the important today. May He give you courage to protect sacred margins in your life, and may those quiet spaces become holy ground where miracles land. As you move through this week, may you discover that in doing less, you actually experience more of His presence, peace, and power.
