Your Daily Devotion for November 6th

Good Morning!
Welcome to this blessed Thursday, November 6th! As the morning unfolds, let’s embrace a profound truth: our worth to God isn’t measured by our productivity but by our presence with Him. Today, we’re invited to practice presence over performance, remembering that with God, being always beats doing.
Today’s Prayer
Heavenly Father, still our striving hearts today. Quiet the voice that says we must earn Your love through endless activity. Help us choose the better portion like Mary did, sitting at Your feet in worship rather than losing ourselves in busyness. Teach us that intimacy with You is our highest calling.
In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Amen.
Daily Inspiration
In Luke 10:42, Jesus gently corrects Martha with profound wisdom: “Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” While Martha bustled about with preparations, Mary sat at Jesus’ feet, drinking in His presence.
This isn’t a condemnation of service, but a divine priority check. Jesus reminds us that our relationship with Him must come first. The dishes can wait; the to-do list will always be there. But moments in His presence? These are the treasures that transform us from the inside out. When we choose to be with Jesus before doing for Jesus, our service flows from fullness rather than emptiness.

Question of the day
How can I know if I’m performing for God rather than abiding with Him?
Performance-based faith often leaves us exhausted, anxious, and secretly wondering if we’ve done enough. Scripture shows us in John 15:5 that Jesus said, “Apart from me you can do nothing.” When we find ourselves stressed about our spiritual duties, constantly comparing ourselves to others, or feeling guilty during rest, we’ve likely shifted from abiding to performing. True abiding produces peace, joy, and fruitfulness that feels effortless because it flows from connection rather than compulsion. Check your heart: Does your service spring from love or from a need to prove your worth?

Moment of Reflection
Consider the last time you gained deep intimacy with God by stopping all activity. Perhaps it was during a quiet morning, a walk in nature, or a moment of stillness in your car. These pauses aren’t wasted time—they’re investments in eternity. Today, what would it look like to choose Mary’s posture? To sit before you serve, to listen before you lead, to receive before you give?
Thought for the day
“Sitting precedes sending” isn’t just a nice phrase—it’s a Kingdom principle woven throughout Scripture. Moses spent 40 days on the mountain before leading Israel. Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness before beginning His ministry. Paul spent years in Arabia before his missionary journeys. The pattern is clear: God prepares us in His presence for our purpose.
Our culture celebrates the go-getters, the hustlers, the non-stop achievers. But God’s economy operates differently. He values the quiet moments, the hidden prayers, the secret devotions. When we prioritize being with Him, our doing for Him carries supernatural power. We move from human effort to divine empowerment, from our strength to His.
Closing Blessing
May you find freedom today from the tyranny of performance. May the Holy Spirit remind you that you are loved not for what you accomplish but for whose you are. As you choose presence over productivity, may you discover the joy Mary knew—that sitting at Jesus’ feet is never time wasted but always time invested.
