Your Daily Devotion for November 20th

Good Morning!

Good morning, beloved! This Thursday, November 20th, brings us a powerful reminder about building with eternity’s materials. Today’s truth cuts through our temporal pursuits: only God-work survives the refining fire. As you navigate your day, consider what you’re constructing—are you using gold, silver, and precious stones, or wood, hay, and straw? Let His wisdom guide your life construction today.

Today’s Prayer

Heavenly Father, guide our life construction today. Show us how to build with materials that endure beyond this world. Help us discern between what appears valuable now and what holds eternal worth. Grant us wisdom to invest our time, talents, and treasures in Kingdom work that will stand the test of Your refining fire.

In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Amen.

Daily Inspiration

“Fire will test the quality of each person’s work.” - 1 Corinthians 3:13

This verse isn’t meant to frighten us but to focus us. Paul reminds us that our life’s work will undergo divine inspection. The fire he speaks of isn’t punitive—it’s purifying. It reveals what we’ve truly built. Some dedicate their lives to accumulating wealth, status, or earthly achievements. But when tested by eternal fire, these temporal treasures turn to ash.

What remains? Acts of love, souls led to Christ, faith grown deeper, character refined through trials. These are the gold, silver, and precious stones that emerge gleaming from God’s refining fire. Today, choose to build what fire can’t burn.

Question of the day

How can I know if what I’m pursuing in my career and daily life has eternal value?

Scripture provides clear guidance in Matthew 6:19-21, where Jesus teaches us to store treasures in heaven rather than on earth. Eternal value is found in anything that impacts souls, builds God’s Kingdom, or develops Christ-like character. Your work has eternal significance when done “as unto the Lord” (Colossians 3:23). Whether you’re raising children, serving customers, or leading a company, ask yourself: Does this reflect God’s love? Does it serve others? Does it point people toward Christ? Even mundane tasks gain eternal weight when offered as worship to God.

Moment of Reflection

What am I building that won’t survive eternity? This penetrating question demands honest self-examination. Perhaps you’ve poured energy into maintaining a reputation, accumulating possessions, or achieving worldly success. These aren’t inherently wrong, but if they’ve become your primary construction project, it’s time for a priority shift. Recall the last time you considered standing before Christ’s judgment seat—how did it reshape your priorities?

Thought for the day

Eternity evaluates everything. This truth should revolutionize how we approach each day. Every conversation, every decision, every investment of our time carries eternal weight. The judgment seat of Christ isn’t about salvation—that’s secured by faith. It’s about rewards for how we’ve built upon the foundation of Christ.

Consider a master craftsman who knows his work will be inspected by the king himself. He doesn’t cut corners or use inferior materials. He works with excellence, knowing the evaluation is coming. Similarly, we’re not building for human applause or temporary satisfaction. We’re constructing a life that will be presented to the King of Kings. This eternal perspective transforms ordinary moments into opportunities for eternal impact.

Closing Blessing

May the Lord grant you wisdom to build with eternity’s materials today. May your work, relationships, and choices reflect heaven’s priorities. As you construct your life upon Christ’s foundation, may you find joy in knowing that what you build in His strength will shine brilliantly through eternity’s refining fire.
