Your Daily Devotion for November 19th

Good Morning!
Good morning, beloved! On this Wednesday, November 19th, may your heart be stirred to practice spiritual fathering today. There are orphan spirits all around us who desperately need the warmth and guidance of spiritual family. Let this day be marked by your willingness to extend God’s paternal love to those who need it most.
Today’s Prayer
Heavenly Father, expand our spiritual family today. Open our eyes to see those who long for spiritual parents, mentors, and guides. Give us courage to step into the sacred role of spiritual fathering and mothering. Help us reflect Your perfect love to those who feel orphaned and alone in this world.
In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Amen.
Daily Inspiration
Psalm 68:5 declares a profound truth: “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.” This verse reveals the very heart of God—He is intimately concerned with those who lack family, support, and spiritual covering. When we practice spiritual fathering, we’re not merely doing good works; we’re participating in God’s own nature and mission.
Consider how Jesus embodied this principle. He gathered disciples not as students but as spiritual sons. He nurtured, corrected, encouraged, and ultimately commissioned them. Through spiritual adoption, ordinary fishermen were transformed into world-changers. This same transformative power is available when we open our hearts to spiritually parent those God places in our path.
Question of the day
How do I know if someone needs spiritual parenting from me, and what does that relationship look like practically?
Scripture shows us that spiritual orphans often reveal themselves through their hunger for wisdom, their patterns of isolation, or their struggles with identity and purpose (1 Timothy 1:2, Titus 1:4). Look for those who gravitate toward you for guidance, who ask deep questions, or who seem disconnected from spiritual community. Spiritual parenting involves consistent prayer, regular encouragement, biblical mentoring, and creating safe spaces for growth. Paul modeled this beautifully with Timothy, calling him his “true son in the faith” and investing deeply in his spiritual formation through letters, visits, and practical ministry partnership.

Moment of Reflection
Take a moment to consider the spiritual fathers and mothers who have shaped your faith journey. How did their investment change your life? Now, shift your focus outward. Who in your sphere of influence might be longing for that same spiritual covering? The Holy Spirit may be highlighting someone even now—a younger believer, a struggling coworker, or someone new to faith who needs what you have to offer.
Thought for the day
Spiritual orphans don’t always look like we expect. They might be successful professionals who lack spiritual grounding, young adults navigating faith without guidance, or even peers who’ve never experienced healthy spiritual mentorship. These orphan spirits seek fathers and mothers—not perfect ones, but available ones. When we adopt someone spiritually, we’re not signing up to have all the answers. We’re simply committing to walk alongside them, share our experiences, pray consistently, and point them to the ultimate Father. This spiritual adoption creates ripple effects of transformation that extend far beyond what we can see, building God’s kingdom one relationship at a time.
Closing Blessing
May God expand your heart today to embrace those seeking spiritual family. May He give you wisdom to guide, patience to nurture, and love to cover those He entrusts to your care. Go forth as a spiritual parent, reflecting the Father’s perfect love to a world full of spiritual orphans waiting to be adopted into His family.
