Good Morning!
Good morning, beloved! On this Thursday, May 21st, we invite you to treasure something unexpected—your brokenness. Just as crushed spices release their sweetest fragrance, so too does God release beauty from our most difficult seasons. The very places where we feel shattered become the vessels through which His grace flows most freely. Today, let’s embrace the sacred mystery of how God transforms our pain into purpose.
Today’s Prayer
Heavenly Father, we come before You with our broken pieces, trusting that You see beauty where we see only shards. Thank You for never despising our contrite hearts but instead drawing near to the crushed in spirit. Use our brokenness as an offering—a sweet fragrance rising to Your throne. Transform our pain into ministry, our tears into testimony, and our wounds into wells of compassion for others.
In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Amen.
Daily Inspiration
“My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart You, God, will not despise.” — Psalm 51:17
David wrote these words after his devastating fall with Bathsheba—a season of profound crushing. Yet from this brokenness came one of Scripture’s most honest, beautiful prayers of repentance. God didn’t reject David in his shattered state; He drew close.
This verse reveals a profound truth: God isn’t looking for our polished performances or perfect offerings. He treasures the humble, tender heart that acknowledges its need for Him. When we stop pretending we have it all together and instead bring our authentic brokenness before His throne, something miraculous happens. Our crushing becomes the very thing that releases the fragrance of genuine faith—both to God and to a watching world hungry for authenticity.
Question of the day
Why does God allow seasons of brokenness in the lives of those He loves?
Scripture reveals that God permits brokenness not to destroy us, but to refine us and draw us closer to Him. James 1:2-4 encourages us to “consider it pure joy… whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” Romans 5:3-4 echoes this, teaching that suffering produces perseverance, character, and hope.
God, like a master gardener, knows that pruning produces greater fruit (John 15:2). Our brokenness creates space for His strength to shine through our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Often, our deepest ministries are born from our deepest wounds—we comfort others with the comfort we ourselves have received (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).

Moment of Reflection
Think back to a season of crushing in your life—perhaps a loss, a failure, or a dream that died. Now consider: what ministry, compassion, or understanding was born from that season? What fragrance has been released that wouldn’t exist without the crushing? Today, ask God to show you the unexpected beauty emerging from your current struggles. He wastes nothing.
Thought for the day
In ancient times, spices were crushed to release their healing properties and pleasing aromas. Perfumers knew that the most precious fragrances could only emerge through pressure and breaking. The same principle operates in our spiritual lives.
Consider how many powerful ministries have been birthed from broken places. The recovering addict who now leads others to freedom. The grieving parent who comforts others walking through loss. The forgiven sinner whose testimony of grace transforms hearts. None of these fragrances could have been released without the crushing.
This doesn’t mean we should seek brokenness or romanticize pain. But it does mean we can trust that God is present in our crushing, carefully collecting every tear and every broken piece. He is the divine Perfumer, and He knows exactly how to transform our trials into a fragrance that blesses others and rises as worship to Him.
Your brokenness is not the end of your story—it’s the beginning of a deeper, sweeter chapter. Let the crushing produce sweetness.
Closing Blessing
May the Lord who draws near to the brokenhearted surround you with His presence today. May He transform your crushed places into gardens of grace, and may the fragrance of your testimony bring hope to every soul you encounter. Go in peace, knowing that in God’s hands, nothing is wasted—especially your brokenness.
