Your Daily Devotion for May 20th

Good Morning!
Good morning! Today is Tuesday, May 20th—a new day to step courageously onto the waters of faith, trusting fully that God’s hand never fails us. Just as Peter stepped out of the boat and walked upon the waves at Jesus’ invitation, may we, too, venture beyond our comfort zones, confident that Christ will sustain our every step.
Today’s devotion is brought to you by The Voice of the Martyrs ― Serving persecuted Christians since 1967

Today’s Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Embolden us to courageously step beyond our familiar boundaries and comfort zones. Help us to fully trust Your steady hand, assured that You sustain and direct our every stride upon unfamiliar waters. May we embrace each opportunity with bold faith knowing You are with us always.
In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Amen.
Daily Inspiration
Faith grows not in the safety of the shore but in walking where only God sustains.
Just as Peter stepped boldly upon the water in Matthew 14:29, we too are called into adventures of faith. Is there something new and challenging you’re facing today? Remember, God strengthens us not as we cling fearfully to known comforts, but as we bravely trust His goodness amidst uncertainty. He promises to uphold us even when the path ahead seems impossible.
Question of the day
What “boat” might I still be clinging to instead of stepping onto the waves with Jesus?
Often, our “boats” are comfortable and familiar things we rely on for security and control. It could be a job, relationship, habit, or fear. But God invites us to trust Him fully, stepping forward courageously in faith like Peter (Matthew 14:29–31). Scripture reminds us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5). Let us prayerfully reflect upon any areas of comfort or security we are hesitant to release, asking God to grant courage and faith as we step out upon the waves with Him.

Moment of Reflection
Recall a moment from your life when you stepped out into uncertainty, trusting God’s promise—that seemingly unsure step which led to unexpected strength and support. Reflect on how God showed up faithfully then, and trust Him to uphold you again today.
Thought for the day
True faith flourishes not by clinging onto what is stable or familiar, but by confidently walking where only God’s sustaining power can keep us safe. It is when we venture into situations that stretch us—even frighten us—that we truly experience God’s strength. Each step taken into unknown territory, wholly dependent upon Christ, allows our trust in Him to deepen. Bold faith calls us beyond the comfortable shores of self-reliance, pushing us towards encounters where God alone becomes our source, support, and salvation.
Closing Blessing
“Go forth daring to believe that He upholds every faithful stride. May the Lord guide your every step, filling you with unshakable courage, and demonstrating His miraculous power and unwavering presence in your life today and always.”
