Good Morning!

Good morning and blessed Tuesday, June 16th! Today we're reminded that not all building materials are created equal. Just as a wise contractor selects materials that will withstand inspection and the test of time, we are called to build our lives with what endures eternally. As you step into this day, consider: are you constructing something that will last when tested by fire? May this day bring you clarity about what truly matters in the kingdom of God.

Today's Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before You asking for wisdom to build our lives with eternal materials. Help us discern between the gold that lasts and the straw that burns away. Grant us the courage to invest our time, energy, and resources into what truly matters—love, service, faith, and souls saved for Your kingdom. Transform our priorities so that when the Day comes, our work will shine brightly before You.

In Jesus' name, we pray.
Amen.

Daily Inspiration

1 Corinthians 3:13: "Their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person's work."

The Apostle Paul uses vivid construction imagery to teach the Corinthian believers a profound truth: everything we build in this life will one day face divine inspection. The "Day" Paul references is the day of Christ's return, when all our works—our ministries, relationships, investments of time, and efforts—will be tested by fire.

This isn't meant to frighten us but to focus us. Fire doesn't destroy gold, silver, and precious stones; it purifies them. But wood, hay, and straw are consumed instantly. Paul invites us to ask ourselves honestly: What am I building my life upon? Are we pursuing temporary applause, fleeting pleasures, and worldly success? Or are we investing in eternal relationships, faithful service, and gospel-centered living?

Question of the day

How can I know if my daily choices are building something eternal or temporary?

Scripture gives us a helpful filter: love. In 1 Corinthians 13:3, Paul writes that even the most impressive works—giving all possessions to the poor or surrendering our bodies to hardship—mean nothing without love. Jesus affirmed this when He said the greatest commandments are to love God and love others (Matthew 22:37-39).

Ask yourself: Does this action flow from genuine love for God and people? Will this matter in eternity? Does this align with God's Word and advance His kingdom? When our choices are rooted in love, faith, and obedience, we're building with gold. When they're driven by selfish ambition, fear of man, or worldly gain, we're stacking straw.

Moment of Reflection

Take a moment to recall the lasting fruit from work you've done with eternal materials—perhaps a life you've encouraged, a relationship you've invested in faithfully, or a moment you chose integrity over convenience. These are the treasures that survive the fire. What seeds have you planted that continue to bear fruit? Give thanks for God's grace in allowing you to participate in eternal work.

Thought for the day

Building quality matters eternally. This isn't just a construction principle—it's a life principle.

Consider how much care goes into building a structure meant to last centuries. Engineers test materials, architects plan meticulously, and builders work with precision. Yet how often do we approach our spiritual lives with the same intentionality? We sometimes throw together our days haphazardly, filling them with whatever feels urgent rather than what's truly important.

Jesus addressed this in the Sermon on the Mount when He contrasted the wise builder who built on rock with the foolish builder who built on sand (Matthew 7:24-27). The difference wasn't in the appearance of the houses but in what happened when storms came. One stood; one collapsed.

Today, choose gold over straw. Invest in prayer rather than distraction. Choose a meaningful conversation over mindless scrolling. Offer forgiveness instead of holding grudges. These choices may seem small, but they're the bricks of eternal construction.

Closing Blessing

May the Lord grant you wisdom to build with eternal materials today. May He open your eyes to see what truly lasts and give you courage to release what doesn't. As you go forth, may your work bring glory to God and stand the test of fire. The Lord bless you and keep you, now and forevermore. Amen.
