Your Daily Devotion for August 17th

Today’s devotion is brought to you by Fulton — sustainable arch support that feels like a blessing for your feet.

Good Morning!

Good morning, beloved in Christ! Today is Sunday, August 17. Let us rejoice as we humbly serve others, for in the Kingdom of God the towel beats the throne every time!

Today’s Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Teach our hearts humility and service. In a world filled with selfish ambition, form in us hearts that delight in washing feet, serving quietly, and loving earnestly as Jesus did. Help us joyfully and faithfully bear the towel of service for Your glory.

In Jesus’ name, we pray.

Amen.

Daily Inspiration

John 13:14:
“Now that I…have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.”

Christ modeled true greatness—not in dominion but in devotion, not from a throne but with a towel. Jesus willingly lowered Himself and became a humble servant, kneeling to wash dirty feet. Like our Savior, let us also discover joy in unnoticed service, choosing gladly to perform even the smallest task in love and humility.

Question of the day

How can I truly cultivate a servant’s heart like Jesus?

To develop a servant’s heart, begin by inviting God to transform your attitude toward service. Follow the example of Christ’s humility as expressed clearly in Philippians 2:5-8: “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus… He made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant…” Intentional daily choices to put other’s needs first—serving quietly, loving unconditionally, and giving freely—grow humility within. Consistent serving, bathed in prayer and empowered by the Spirit, transforms our hearts to reflect the servant-heart of Jesus Himself.

Moment of Reflection

Pause for a moment today and think: Where can I choose a lowly task with a glad heart? Perhaps at home—doing a chore without recognition. Perhaps at church—offering to serve quietly behind the scenes. Perhaps at work—serving someone without expecting thanks. Consider the unnoticed ways you can embody the humble spirit of Jesus right now.

Thought for the day

True greatness in God’s Kingdom never parades itself; it washes feet, dons an apron, and chooses humility over applause. While our world chases powers, positions, and promotions, Jesus chose a towel and basin. His example calls each of us to seek opportunities to become foot-washers, joyfully meeting needs through quiet, small acts of service. God sees every hidden act of servanthood, even if others never do. The greatest among us wear aprons with joy, understanding the profound honor found in humble acts done for the glory of God.

Closing Blessing

May the Lord bless you richly as you serve others humbly today. May He grant you genuine joy and a steadfast heart as you follow Christ’s example. Go forth in love; serve with grace; receive His peace.
