Good Morning!
Good morning, dear friends! On this Thursday, August 13th, we gather with hearts open to receive a fresh perspective from our Lord. Today, we’re invited to see the world through the eyes of compassion—to look beyond the surface of people’s actions and recognize the spiritual battles they may be fighting. May God open our blinded eyes to see others as He sees them: not merely as sinners, but as captives in need of freedom.

Today’s Prayer
Heavenly Father, we come before You asking for eyes that see as You see. Forgive us for the times we have judged others harshly, failing to recognize the spiritual blindness that holds them captive. Give us hearts of compassion that look beyond behavior to the bondage beneath. Help us to be instruments of Your grace, extending the same mercy You have shown us. Teach us to love the captive, not condemn the sinner.
In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Amen.
Daily Inspiration
“The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” — 2 Corinthians 4:4
This powerful verse reminds us that those who act in ways contrary to God’s will are often not simply rebellious—they are blind. The enemy has veiled their eyes from the glorious truth of the Gospel. When we encounter someone lost in sin, we must remember that a spiritual battle rages for their soul.
Jesus modeled this perfectly. When He looked upon the crowds, He saw sheep without a shepherd—harassed and helpless. He didn’t see problems to avoid; He saw people to rescue. Compassion sees the captive behind the behavior, the prisoner behind the poor choices. This perspective transforms how we interact with a broken world.
Question of the day
How can I stop being so judgmental toward others who don’t share my faith or values?
Scripture offers us profound guidance on this struggle. Romans 2:1 warns, “You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself.” We must remember that we, too, were once spiritually blind until God’s grace opened our eyes (Ephesians 2:1-5).
Jesus taught in Matthew 7:3-5 to examine the plank in our own eye before addressing the speck in another’s. The key is recognizing that judgment belongs to God alone, while compassion and intercession belong to us. When you feel judgment rising, pause and pray for that person instead—this transforms criticism into compassion.

Moment of Reflection
Think of someone whose transformation amazed you—perhaps a person everyone had written off, who encountered genuine compassion and was forever changed. Maybe it was a family member, a colleague, or even yourself. What made the difference? Often, it was someone who chose to see potential instead of problems, who extended grace instead of judgment. That same power of compassionate sight lives in you today through the Holy Spirit.
Thought for the day
Compassion sees the captive.
This simple yet profound truth has the power to revolutionize our relationships and our witness. When we encounter difficult people—the angry coworker, the hostile neighbor, the rebellious teenager—our natural response is to react to their behavior. But Christ calls us deeper.
Behind every harsh word may be a heart wounded by rejection. Behind every act of rebellion may be a soul desperate for love. Behind every expression of unbelief may be a mind genuinely blinded by the enemy’s lies. When we understand this, our frustration transforms into intercession, our judgment into mercy.
Consider the woman caught in adultery. The Pharisees saw a sinner worthy of stoning. Jesus saw a daughter worthy of saving. His compassion didn’t excuse her sin—He told her to “go and sin no more”—but it recognized her humanity and offered her hope.
Today, ask yourself: Who am I judging instead of seeing as spiritually blind? Then choose to see beyond the behavior to the beautiful soul God created and longs to redeem.
Closing Blessing
May the Lord grant you His eyes of compassion today. May you see captives where you once saw only sinners, and may your heart break for the broken as His does. Go forth as an ambassador of grace, carrying the light of Christ to those still walking in darkness. May your compassion be the bridge that leads someone from bondage to freedom.
Amen.
