Good Morning!
Good morning and blessed Sunday, April 5th! As you rise this Lord’s Day, consider this truth: malnourished souls drift easily. Just as our physical bodies grow weak without proper food, our spirits become vulnerable when we neglect the nourishment God provides. Today, let us commit to feeding our souls first, before the busyness of life crowds out what matters most. May this day find you hungry for the things of God and satisfied by His abundant provision.
Today’s Prayer
Heavenly Father, we come before You this morning acknowledging our deep need for spiritual sustenance. Create within us an insatiable hunger for Your Word—a craving that cannot be satisfied by anything this world offers. Forgive us for the spiritual meals we have skipped, the quiet times we have neglected, and the moments we chose distraction over devotion. Fill us today with the bread of life that only You can provide. Strengthen our resolve to treasure Your words above all earthly sustenance.
In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Amen.
Daily Inspiration
“I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my daily bread.” — Job 23:12
What a remarkable declaration from Job! In the midst of unimaginable suffering—losing his children, his wealth, and his health—Job could confidently say that God’s Word meant more to him than the food he needed to survive. This wasn’t religious rhetoric; this was the testimony of a man who had stored up spiritual nourishment long before the storm arrived.
Job understood something many of us forget: the Word we consume during seasons of peace becomes the strength we draw upon during seasons of crisis. He had treasured God’s words, hiding them deep within his heart, and when everything around him crumbled, that stored-up truth held him firm. The question for us today is profound and convicting: What spiritual meal am I skipping? Which daily appointment with God have I deemed optional? A nourished spirit stands firm when trials come—but we cannot withdraw what we have never deposited.
Question of the day
Why do I feel spiritually dry even when I attend church regularly?
Spiritual dryness despite regular church attendance is more common than many believers realize. The answer often lies in the difference between passive and active engagement with God. In Matthew 5:6, Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” Notice the prerequisite—hunger and thirst. Church attendance is valuable, but if we arrive without expectation, without personal study throughout the week, and without genuine pursuit of God’s presence, we may find ourselves spiritually malnourished.
Consider also Jeremiah 29:13: “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.” Spiritual vitality requires intentional, daily pursuit—not just weekly participation. Feed your soul through personal Scripture reading, prayer, and meditation throughout the week, and watch how Sunday worship transforms from routine to revival.

Moment of Reflection
Take a moment to honestly assess your spiritual diet. When did you last open Scripture outside of a church service? When did you last linger in prayer beyond a quick blessing over meals? The drift Job warns against doesn’t happen suddenly—it happens gradually, one skipped meal at a time. Today, identify one spiritual practice you’ve neglected and commit to restoring it this week. Your future self, facing unknown trials, will thank you.
Thought for the day
There is a profound reason Jesus called Himself the “Bread of Life” in John 6:35. Bread was the staple food of the ancient world—the non-negotiable, daily necessity that sustained life itself. By using this imagery, Jesus was declaring that He is not a spiritual luxury or an occasional indulgence; He is essential sustenance for the soul.
Consider how seriously we take physical hunger. When our stomachs growl, we stop what we’re doing and eat. We plan our days around meals. We feel genuine discomfort when food is delayed. Yet how often do we ignore spiritual hunger pangs? How easily do we skip our time with God because we’re “too busy” or “too tired”?
The spiritual disciplines—Bible reading, prayer, worship, fellowship—are not items on a religious checklist. They are the meals that keep our souls healthy and strong. Job understood this. During his darkest hour, he didn’t need to scramble to find something to hold onto; he had a storehouse full of treasured truth. Nourished spirits stand firm because they have been consistently fed. Start building your storehouse today.
Closing Blessing
May the Lord satisfy your soul with the richness of His Word this day. May you hunger for His presence more than your daily bread, and may you find in Him the nourishment that sustains through every season. Go forth fed, strengthened, and secure in the One who is the Bread of Life. Grace and peace be with you this Sunday and always.
